Chat with Danielle Broughton-Evans, bridal hairstylist in Cheshire

When photographing weddings you often get to work with the same suppliers a few times during wedding season and it’s music to my ears when I get to work with my favourites again! Not only for me knowing we work well together, but for couples getting to work with the best too, and one of the best has to be Danielle (Danielle Broughton-Evans Hair).

It’s always a joy when I see Danielle’s name written in the supplier list. Not only is it nice to spend the morning around her as she’s super friendly and lovely but also she’s SO good at her job! We’ve worked together on some of the hottest days and some of the windiest wedding days but Danielle’s work speaks for itself. My brides always look FLAWLESS with Danielle doing their hair.

I only recommend suppliers if I’ve used them myself or I have worked with them a few times. I have a long list of amazing suppliers from makeup and hair stylists to evening entertainment that I can recommend, not only because of their amazing work but also because of how lovely they are. Danielle is high on that list! Take a moment to get to know Danielle and a little more on what to expect when booking your hair stylist…

How long have you been a hair stylist?

I have been a bridal specialist for 9 years but have worked in the hair industry for 22.

Where are you based and where do you cover?

I’m based in Crewe, Cheshire but happy to travel! We are super blessed with wedding venues in Cheshire but I love to travel out to venues all over the country. 

What made you want to specialise in weddings?

I love all things weddings and all things hair. When I was little I would spend the day with my Grandmother, and she would walk me to the local church. We would hear the bells ringing and watch the newlyweds walk out of church. I was always in awe of how beautiful the brides looked, especially their hair. I always knew I’d love to be in the bridal business and help make brides look and feel their best.

How far in advance should brides be enquiring/booking?

I open my diary to bookings 18 months in advance and the summer months fill up super quickly. I’d say once you have your date secured then drop me an enquiry if you’d like some information or to get booked in.

Is there a maximum amount of people you can fit in on a wedding morning?

There is no maximum. However you do need to factor in ceremony times and how early you’d like to be getting ready in the morning. Also my travel time to the venue, although I’m always up for a stop over!

Should Brides be booking in a hair trial before the day and if so when?

It’s essential that all brides have a trial. This is where we get to meet and bring their vision to life. It’s so nice to meet everyone before the wedding day so we can get to know each other, I’m sure no one wants to feel like they are spending their wedding morning with a total stranger. Not only will we find the perfect hairstyle ahead of the big day, I can guide and give advice on colour placement, extra hair and the perfect prep. We will also discuss the schedule of the morning so things run smoothly. I recommend that most trials take place around 3 months before the big day or sooner.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

 I love everything about weddings, however there is nothing better than making someone look amazing and feel the best version of themselves.

Are there any do’s and don’t for hair prep before the day?

Do listen to any advice I can give to you at your trial, everyone’s hair is completely different but I will guide you the best I can so we can achieve great hair! 

Do make sure your hair is 100% dry and Don’t be tempted to do a deep conditioning mask the day before.
